RePaint Cambridge Launched

The Mayor of Cambridge, Anne Ridgeon and Don, the Dulux Dog took centre stage at the launch of The Cambridge RePaint launch, in Cambridge on November 11th.

Mayor of Cambridge, Councillor Ian Nimmo-Smith, launched the scheme which has been set up by CCORRN, through their Cambridge RePaint Partnership. The partnership consists of various organisations, local councils and companies with the aim of bringing the usable surplus paint to those in the south of the county.

Cambridge Wood Works and Cambridge Re-Use will now stock a selection of paints providing a more convenient distribution point for those in and around Cambridge unable to reach CCORRN's March based RePaint centre. Cambridge Wood Works, Cambridge ReUse and CCORRN had a large presence at the event; selling paint and giving out information about the scheme.

The day was a success and with a great turn out of the launch event. Don the Dulux Dog took most of the attention; however Anne Ridgeon, Chairman of Ridgeons LTD, also gave her support to the scheme as one of the Cambridge Partners. Ridgeons are trialing a "old paint for new" scheme, with Cambridgeshire RePaint as benficieries of the surplus paint.

The launch was captured by Anglia News on the day whilst BBC Look East ran a feautre of the RePaint process; following a tin donated by The Mayor of Cambridge, through to its collection and sorting process by CCORRN's staff. Unfortunately, the BBC story is no longer available but you can see the launch event coverage on the Anglia News website
