Green Award Winners for 2012

Posted by on in General

CCORRN were very proud to accept the award for Green Company at the 2012 Fenland Enterprise Business Awards in October 2012 for our Cambridgeshire Community RePaint scheme.

We are extremely pleased to have received the award after almost two years of extremely hard work. The scheme has taken off in ways that nobody envisaged in January 2011, when the scheme launched at Milton Recycling Centre.

In 2011 we collected over 35,000 tins of unwanted paint and already in 2012 we have surpassed that figure.

It was a huge honour to be announced the winner of the Green Award thanks in large to the enormous amount of hard work from our staff and volunteers.

Cambridgeshire RePaint Nominated for Green Award

Posted by on in General

We are very pleased to announce that CCCORRN's Cambridgeshire Community RePaint has been nominated in the Green category for the Fenland Enterprise Business Awards 2012.

Having grown considerably and gone on leaps and bounds with the project in 2012, it is a great honour to be considered for the award alongside HOPE Social Enterprises, CUB - Commercial Utility Brokers and Foster Property Maintenance.

This award is designed to recognise significant achievement in protecting or improving the environment, major contribution to local communities without the expectation of direct commercial benefit, or both.

The RePaint project has been a true labour of love for all our staff and especially our volunteers; without whose help we would have struggled to take the project forward to the stage we are at today. Since the project launched in January 2011 we have collected over 70,000 tins of paint acquainting to almost 130,000 litres of paint removed from the waste stream. Any paint which cannot be redistributed is disposed of through environmentally friendly processes, with emulsion being broken down into fertiliser and compost.

The winners will be announced at the Fenland Enterprise Business Awards 2012 at March Braza Club, on October 5th 2012. We wish everyone the very best of luck and look forward to seeing you there!

A big thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the year!

RePaint A Big Hit Over Summer!

Posted by on in General

Despite having one of wettest summer in recorded history, Repaint has seen an incredible boost in donations and redistribution leading to August being our biggest month since the start of the scheme.

Even with the poor weather, we have opened our doors to hundreds of individuals, charities and organisations seeing around 2500 litres redistributed since our Open Day, culminating with our two week Summer Sale in August which proved a gigantic success with nearly 1500 litres being sold.

Over the summer months we have been working closely with Seetec to provide paint and volunteers to redecorate the Royal British Legion in March as part of Open Day Event with Help for Heroes. Along with the British Legion we have also been able to provide paint for Fossils Galore in March, Benwick Football Club, The Jammin’ Project in Wisbech and Momentum Arts in Cambridge.

We have also seen a large rise in paint donations, with August being our biggest month on record with over 5000 tins picked up from our 6 containers around Cambridgeshire.

A huge thank you to everyone who has donated and bought paint from us!

Cambridgeshire Community RePaint collects unwanted paint from Household Waste Recycling Centres around the county then sorts it to ensure quality and colour and provides it to people at incredibly low prices.

We aim to have partners in each of the Cambridgeshire districts and have partner opportunities in Wisbech, Huntingdon and South Cambs although we would consider other areas too.

CCORRN’s Cambridgeshire wide Community Repaint scheme is labour intensive and is one of the largest of its kind in the UK and regarded by many as one of leading organisations in this field in terms of standards, service and beneficiaries.

The scheme has part time management/admin staff and part time project workers/drivers. Most of the work is dependent on volunteers provided through a number of sources.

The main March facility is open to the public Monday to Saturday 10am - 3pm.
CCORRN's facility includes areas where members can access paint and creative reuse materials as part of the recent expansion.

CCORRN has a contract with Cambridgeshire County Council and AmeyCespa for collecting testing and treating the waste paint and preparing the reusable paint for reuse. In addition to offering members access to the factory shop in March CCORRN has partners who distribute paint in their local areas so that more communities can benefit from the scheme.

For a nominal set up fee a partnership organisation will receive a package of support and resources to open a shop or create a paint sales area within their existing facility. There are some requirements including signing an agreement and adhering to certain procedures, record keeping and collaborative working with the other partners in the scheme.

CCORRN will supply usable tested paint in tins priced ready for sale including the ReMixed range. All distributor partners receive equal percentage of the sales income of each tin of paint they sell and all of the membership fees.

So if you are a community group or social enterprise looking at earning some income for your group whilst providing a useful service to your community please do get in touch with Marcus Pheasant: This email address is being protected from spambots.
